Visitor Justine Kenyton (Festival).

Justine Kenyton came in today and spoke about several things it takes to run and plan a festival.
She used to work for Stockwell Festival, and now she works for the Wandsworth Festival.
There are two main types of festival :
- Industry ( money making festivals/events)
- Community/Local Festivals

Planning : (A festival)

- Alot of paperwork to do.
- Laws, Licenses, permissions
- Responsible for safety of members of the public.

*Plan out a table/timeline when working in a team, good technique !*
*Work doesn't finish after the festival e.g. Evaluating*

To persuade companies for money you will need to give/ offer them something e.g. their logo being all over your flyers.

From what I heard planning and organising a festival is really difficult and challenging.
Here are some of the marketing leaflets she brought in to show us :

Comparing and Contrasting Edinburgh and Wandsworth. (Festivals)

COMPARISSON :

I have chosen to compare the Edinburgh International festival and the Wandsworth arts festival.
They both have different target audiences for example the edinburgh festival is more for adults ranging from about 28-50, were as the Wandsworth arts festival is targeting the whole borough and the people living in the local area.
Edinburgh international festival takes place every year between August and September , dates are still to be confirmed for 2011. The dates for Wandsworth arts festival are also still to be confirmed for 2011 but the event should happen from May onwards.

About the festivals :
